I would like to make a kind recommendation to Agency Analytics development team to replace "filler data" with a simple "widget not connected" message. Attached below are two screenshots that create an example of how false data is being displayed if a custom metric widget is not connected to an actual custom metric. What my team has found on countless occasions as we rollout new smart reports and dashboard views, is that if these custom metrics can become disconnected (or perhaps were mistakenly never connected before) and there's no easy way of telling UNLESS, you click into the widget itself.
In the example, the widget is displaying a website conversion rate % of 2.23, which based on a glance at the other data at least seems reasonable, which would lead some of our account executives to take that data for face value. However, after clicking into the widget and discovering it's not actually connected to anything, we connected it to the appropriate custom metric. Afterwards (the 2nd screenshot), the conversion rate showed accurately at 1.40%. We've seen this in other occasions with our "total leads" custom metrics not adding up to include the combined totals from other widgets. It's been after a few minutes of troubleshooting we discover, whoops! The widget actually wasn't connected to anything.
I hope this feedback can help improve the system and create more transparency across users to know exactly what widgets are connected and which are not, specifically when leveraging custom metrics to ensure the data their reporting is accurate!
