Hello everyone,
We wanted to share an update regarding the addition of the ROAS (Return On Ad Spend) metric to our Google Ads integration in AgencyAnalytics.
What We've Explored:
Our team has been diligently working to integrate the ROAS metric. However, we've encountered some limitations with the data available from Google Ads. Currently, Google Ads API provides two metrics related to ROAS: Average Target ROAS and Target ROAS. While we can add these to various levels like Campaigns, Ad Groups, and Keywords, each comes with its own set of challenges:
Target ROAS Limitation: This metric cannot be integrated into Custom Metrics due to its attribute nature, meaning it lacks aggregation and the ability to break down data by date.
Average Target ROAS Limitation: While this metric does offer data breakdown, it's only viable for periods of 30 days or less.
The Core Issue:
Many of you have requested the Actual Target ROAS, which, unfortunately, is not currently available in the Google Ads API. Also, we do not have a viable method to accurately calculate this on our end.
Why Not Use a Warehousing Solution?
We considered a warehousing solution but realized it wouldn't solve the problem. Since this approach would still rely on the Google Ads API, it would lead to inconsistencies in the data if we tried to incorporate this new metric.
Development Status:
We have completed the development work for adding the Target ROAS metric, and the updates are ready in our system. However, the limitation we discovered with the Average Target ROAS metric after updating to the latest Google Ads API version has put us at a standstill.
Moving Forward:
Given these challenges, we need to conduct further investigation to find a feasible solution. We're placing this task on hold for now and plan to revisit it at a later date to explore alternative approaches.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to enhance our Google Ads integration. Your feedback is invaluable, and we're committed to finding a solution that meets your needs. Please share if you have already solved this problem to help out other users. Stay tuned for more updates!
Best regards,
The AgencyAnalytics Team

Jay Patel: this is the incorrect metric for what you're trying to achieve. These metrics are for setting a bid strategy and not measuring the actual ROAS.
The metric you're looking for already exists and is working properly in Agency Analytics, it's Conversion Value / Cost or All Conversation Value / Cost.
I just want to make sure resources are not going into this vs other needed areas. I'm happy to talk with anyone about this so it can be removed from the Road Map.

Tim Akers: Hey Tim, thanks for the insight. I will make a note of this to the team. Also to other users if they feel like it is not available.

Hey all,
This is already possible. The metric is called "Conversion Value / Cost" or "All Conversion Value / Cost" pending which value metric you want to use.
Not sure what additional metrics you're looking for with ROAS.

Tim Akers: Exactly. Don't understand the issue here.

I'm waiting for this metric
David - AgencyAnalytics Team
Ahmet Gündoğdu: Hi! After a previous review, our team found that adding this metric wasn't possible because the required data for calculation wasn't provided by Google Ads through their API. However, I'll bring up your request with the team once more for further investigation.
David - AgencyAnalytics Team
Ahmet Gündoğdu: Hi! I just wanted to come back to this, as the Product Team has confirmed that this metric is now available on Google's API. Unfortunately, due to the quarter nearing its completion, we won't be able to incorporate it at this time. However, rest assured that we will look into adding it in the upcoming quarter, and we'll keep you informed of any developments.
